Work to improve the quality of the pitches at the Village Hall for next season began this morning, with the playing field professionally verti-drained.
The process improves drainage and aeration, and will hopefully lead to better roots and better grass growth when the surface is reseeded in the coming months.
We’re well aware the pitch quality on some parts of the field – notably the 11-a-side surface – hasn’t been the best this last year, with chafer grub problems adding to rabbit holes.
Having sought advice on the issue this last few months, we’re investing in trying to improve the situation moving forward.
