U16 Jets have edge over Bottesford to claim first victory in four years

The U16 Jets provided their mums with an extra special Mother’s Day treat on Sunday, beating Bottesford Town Colts 4-3 to claim their first win in four years.
The result was the culmination of plenty of hard work and determination across the season, and follows an equally-impressive high-scoring draw earlier in the campaign.
While we’re always delighted to see our teams doing well, primarily our aim as a club is to give children the sort of opportunity to play football and progress that they might not be afforded at other teams.
Success comes in many different forms, and this result – given the dedication shown by the Jets and their coaches over the years – should give everyone connected great pride.
We’re told the game itself included a great performance from everyone, with man of the match honours shared by the whole team.
After falling behind, Matthew equalised, before a long-distance effort from Ewan and an excellent third goal from Heath – which began courtesy of Callum’s willingness to chase back – put the Jets in command.
Having conceded a wonder goal early in the second half, the team kept their heads up and scored a fourth with five minutes to play that looked to have made the game safe.
In typical Scotter fashion, there was still time for Bottesford to ensure a nervy finale, in which Sam produced a match-winning save, but after that – the rest is history!
Here’s hoping for continued progress during the last couple of weeks of the season.

The U16 Jets are sponsored by Graham Lee Associates. We thank them for their support.
