U10 Saints’ Alfie gets guard of honour before heading to the US

Saturday was a day of celebration and sadness in equal measure for the U10 Saints, as they bid a fond farewell to long-standing player Alfie.
Having started with the team as a five-year-old, he played his 83rd – and final – game for the team in their Jack Kalson League clash with Crowle at the Village Hall.
Having been an integral part of the squad over the years, Alfie is now making a big money move overseas, with family work commitments seeing him head to the US – where we’re sure he’ll start his international career, playing ‘soccer’.
He went out in style, with a man-of-the-match performance against Crowle Colts – who we’d like to thank for playing their part in a great send off, lining up for a guard of honour before kick-off.
The celebrations continued at The Gamekeeper in the evening for some food, and a special presentation for Alfie, who was given a blanket featuring many football memories and a ‘special recognition award’ to honour his outstanding commitment in the team’s successes.
Saints coach Paul said: “We wish Alfie and his family all the best in their new adventure, and hope to hear about him using his skills and shooting boots across the Atlantic Ocean.”
Best wishes and good luck, Alfie, from all at Scotter Junior Football Club.
